USAID will provide $5.4 million US dollars in development assistance during the period 2012-2015 to support the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment’s efforts to mitigate adverse effects of rapid economic growth on the environment.
Minister of Natural Resource and Environment, Noulinh Sinbandhit received the outgoing US Ambassador to the Lao PDR, Karen Stewart who reaffirms that the US government will continue to assist and collaborate with the Lao government in the sector. At the talk, the Lao Minister Noulinh Sinbandhit expressed his appreciation to the Ambassador Stewart for contributing to the Lao PDR, the role in strengthening the diplomatic relations between Laos and the United States of American.
Ambassador Stewart also informed Minister Noulinh that U.S. Renews Commitment to Support Sustainable Environment.
and Natural Resource Management in Lao P.D.R. She said, USAID will provide $5.4 million in development assistance during the period 2012-2015 to support the Ministry’s efforts to mitigate adverse effects of rapid economic growth on the environment.
The ambassador said, The collaboration will advance climate change adaptation initiatives, sustainable forest management, and increasing Lao PDR involvement in regional networks currently combating wildlife trafficking across Asia amongst others.
The US Ambassador hoped the Lao government would continue to cooperate with the incoming American ambassador to further develop the good relations and cooperation between the two countries.
